Coin Resources & Education

Coin collecting can be confusing, but rest assured you are in good hands with PMC Bullion and Rare Coins!

The rare coin collection industry has gone through dramatic changes in the last 20 years. Today, the coin market is much more transparent and there are recognizable trustworthy grading services (ANACSPCGSNGC and ICG) available to collectors and numismatists alike. These changes have allowed collectors and investors to feel more comfortable participating in the rare coin industry. Though there are still many unreputable dealers in the coin industry, rare coins can be a great investment if you utilize the standardized industry grading systems and assistance of the professional numismatists at PMC Bullion and Rare Coins!

Pitfalls to Avoid

  • Often times we have clients that have purchased highly graded coins in holders that are not one of the recognized industry grading services.  More often than not, these coins are mislabeled at a higher grade than they actually are, negatively affecting the value of the coin(s) in question.
  • Make sure to avoid buying ungraded coins that have been cleaned. Many times collectors will not be able to recognize that a coin has been cleaned; cleaned coins will have a significant discounted value to similar-condition coins that are not cleaned. If you have coins, NEVER clean them. Cleaning coins might seem like a good idea, but this is a sure way to decrease the value of the coin to potential investors and collectors.
If you are thinking of selling your coin collection or adding to your current collection, PMC Bullion and Rare Coins can help you navigate through the rare coin market with confidence.
